HINDU TEMPLE OF CENTRAL ILLINOIS NIRVANA GARDENS CITY OF WEST PEORIA
Hindu Temple of Central Illinois in association with Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh USA Organizes Surya Namaskar Yagna 2008
(A unique Sun Salutation Marathon)
Surya Namaskar (also known as Sun Salutation) is a combination of yoga postures, called "āsanā(s)", performed in a pre-determined sequence. They are a set of well-balanced movements that will stretch and exercise all the muscles in the body, thus keeping the body and mind healthy. A common practice of performing Surya Namaskar in a set of ten yoga postures provides good exercise to the whole body, calms the mind, and sharpens the intellect.
We will conduct a collective Surya Namaskar Yagna (A unique Sun Salutation Marathon) from January 12th to January 27th, 2008. Participants across USA will perform Sun Salutations individually and in groups especially during this period. We invite everyone in Peoria area to perform Surya Namaskar at the temple on January 12 at 10.00 am, and subsequently on 20th & 27th. On the weekdays, Surya Namaskars can be performed at home and totals communicated to the coordinators. Last year, more than 200 people participated in Bloomington – Normal and over 20,000 Surya Namaskar were performed.
Sun Salutations is elixir of life. We request you to participate in this unique program to take this to one and all around us.
