HTCI Board of Volunteers Code of Conduct
As Board Members, we must always be aware that every decision we make, everything we do, can affect the reputation of our Temple. Integrity is the foundation. Our conduct should be guided by our personal integrity. We hold ourselves to the highest standard of integrity and ethical behavior. We must always tell the truth. We must promise only what we can reasonably expect to deliver. We must strive to keep our commitments. We must not engage in activities that create, or even appear to create, conflict between our personal interests and the interests of the Temple.
We value the differences among the individuals, and we welcome diversity within our community. We support and obey laws that prohibit discrimination.
We treat one another with the respect, trust and dignity we ourselves expect.
The integrity of Temple financial reporting; we will ensure every accounting or financial entry accurately reflects that which is described by the supporting information. We expect all those that create, process or record are personally responsible for its integrity.
We as a Board have the responsibility to attend to any circumstances or actions that violate, or appear to violate, the principles of code of conduct.
The integrity of communications: There should be open and honest sharing of Temple operations and financial information via regular mails/emails and Temple website posting. Any unsolicited emails/correspondence that can have any impact on the Temple operations and the Board should be discussed by the Board with prior knowledge.
We will not use the Temple facility or activities for personal gains. In the event of a personal conflict, we withdraw ourselves from the decision making.
As Board Members, we take an active interest in Temple operations and do the best we can to be the champions for the Temple. We participate in as many Temple activities as possible including attending Board Meetings and Temple Programs. We stay involved to understand the sentiments of the Devotees and best represent the Community.
