    Family Sacraments/Poojas Services

A Value Based approach to Family Sacraments Pricing in 2018

We have taken a simplified, value based approach to pricing Temple's Priest Services for family sacraments. Please see below the same price approach ( irrespective whether Temple or home or which day of the week). This should greatly help the scheduling for you and the Priests.

You can register on line for any of the planned sacraments:

    http://www.hinduheritage.org/event-1954141

For planning purposes: As we look ahead at 2018 , we are posting Temple's program Calendar in a month by month easy to use format:

    HTCI Calendar 2018.pdf

In addition we call on you to use mypanchang.com for 2018 (listed for Peoria Illinois month by month).

    http://www.mypanchang.com/panchang.php?getdata=getcity&yr=2018&cityname=Peoria-IL&cityhead=Peoria%2C%20IL

This will help a lot in your consultation with Priests in selecting appropriate family sacrament days and times.

It is up to Devotees to give any Dakshine to the attending Priest. Please make checks payable to HTCI for the pooja service or pay by credit card on line http://www.hinduheritage.org/page-44251 or at the Temple.

Any pooja/Samskaras peformed outside of Greater Peoria area will incur a minimum charge of $250 plus the additional charge for travel (50 cents per mile).

    Dear all,

For many years, most of Temple's fundraising has been through volunteering devotees sponsoring Temple Festivals/ Poojas or doing seva to serve food and raise funds.

Please see below how you can sponsor forthcoming Temple festivals, daily, weekly and monthly poojas for the year 2020 and seek blessings for you and your family.

As always, you can be present to do the sankalpam and participate in Pooja/ Abhishekam(s) or the Priests will conduct the requested pooja/abhishekams on your behalf. A log is maintained by the Priests to ensure that the sankalpas are made as per your subscriptions.

Temple's Vision 2020 is coming true

    Temple Hill Road

The 3000 feet (.6 mile or 1 Km) long road with curb and gutter and storm inlets on both sides runs from Kickapoo Creek Road to Temple parking lot with beautiful hilly terrain and ravines opened on July 15, 2018.

With Temple Hill Road officially open, we have installed a gate at Prairie Lane which will be used only for emergency purposes. Temple traffic is bypassing Prairie Lane and thereby returning the neighborhood to pre-temple days as desired by our neighbors.

Ring Road around the Temple and Parking lot

We now have a paved ring road around the Temple, encompassing the Temple, Yagashala and parking lot.  Also, the L shaped extension of the current parking lot and the larger northern extension are paved are paved to provide enough parking for 315 cars. This is a much needed addition for our special festivals/occasions.

    Temple's Mahadwara addition with Gopuram

The two story addition with Gopuram is finally finished with an arched stairwell with limestone cap. The addition is integrated with Yagashala with added brick stair steps and side walk. The Yagashala is being extended with a brick walkway to the ring road. The new Gopuram with Om Chakra medallions and Gold plated Kalashams complements Sanctum Gopuram. The Sanctum Gopuram has new borders, painted to match Mahadwara Gopuram.

Sanctum's expansion into Auditorium and Entrance Hall

The upstairs entrance hall (1000 sq.ft area) is now the home of Jaya and Vijaya. It opens into Sanctum Auditorium, which now with tiled floor is the home of Navagraha Devatas and can host many diverse devotee gatherings. The Jaya/Vijaya hall with its tall tower windows and circle top entrance door and circle top windows is truly Temple's sun room and green room. The hall has panoramic view of Temple grounds including arched stairwell, Yagashala and ring road.

The lower level hall in the Mahadwara addition

This hall (1000 sq.ft.) will be used as a multi purpose hall (class room/lecture hall/yoga room/extension of dining area as it adjoins the kitchen). With its independent entrance, this room can host smaller gatherings for family sacraments.

Improvements to Yagashala and its surroundings

The Bali Peetam and Dwaja Peetam were dismantled and re installed to achieve alignment with the center line of the Temple. This was a much needed improvement. With the mahadwara addition stairwell leading into Yagashala, a drain tile was installed to divert the water from Yagashala and its walls. The old storm water retention pond has been filled and the ring road is in place to surround the Yagashala. Temple's Rath Path now surrounds the Yagashala. Much of the adjacent land has been cleared to develop a beautiful grassy/ timber garden (Niravana Vana) in the near future.

    New 8 inch Water Line

The 8 inch water line that runs from Farmington Road main, under Kickapoo Creek and Creek Road and along Temple Hill Road is now pressurized and connected to fire hydrant by the Temple and a new fire hydrant at Prairie Lane entrance. This brings much needed water pressure and fire protection to the entire neighborhood. The water line has been pressure tested and accepted by PVWD.

New 10 inch Sanitary Sewer Line

A 10 inch sewer trunk line has been constructed. It connects to the 72 inch main sewer, runs under the two railroads and across Kickapoo Creek Road and along Temple Hill Road to the Temple.  The sewer has gone through finish testing and has been approved and accepted by GPSD. The lateral to the Temple has been connected to bypass the lift station. This has been a long standing issue with periodic pump failures. This has been a must do project.

WOW!! Temple's Vision 2020 is finally becoming a reality

    We feel truly blessed!!!

A MESSAGE FROM DEVA GOKULAM TEACHERS

We are reaching out to all parents with the new vision for  Sanskrit to Sanctum based Deva Gokulam.

Progressive Sanskrit learning will become the core module of Deva Gokulam curriculum. In addition to learning Devanagari script, Sanskrit vocabulary and shloka construction will be taught. Children will be able to read and write Pooja & Gita Shlokas, Mantras and Bhajans. In this module and in Sanctum module, Shlokas and Bhajans will be taught and chanted and sung. Soon English transliteration will be unnecessary.

    Test and graduation expectation:

Children will be able to read and write Pooja & Gita Shlokas, Mantras and Bhajans in Devanagari script.

Sanctum session will include Pooja Prayers and Rituals (Purna Vidya book on Puja Prayers).  In addition to regularly scheduled Sunday sessions, children and families are highly encouraged to attend Temple festival celebrations. As an example, this year on Ganesha Chathurthi day, families are encouraged to participate in Samoohika Ganesha Pooja. Also, children and families are participating in Homa and Rathotsava. Similarly, children and families are encouraged to participate in other Temple festivals either in lieu of or in addition to regularly scheduled Sunday sessions.

There are two other modules separate from Sanskrit and Sanctum; Story Telling and Krida.

Story telling will focus on the two epics: Ramayana and Mahabharata. First six months will likely focus on Ramayana, which will be told and discussed in all three groups at various levels of maturity. As an example, younger groups will receive a copy of Purna Vidya Ramayana, while Iswara children will get a copy of Rajagopalachari’s Ramayana. ACK rendition of various Ramayana and Mahabharata stories will be used in the class rooms.

Krida session can be indoors or outdoors depending on the weather. Arts and crafts will alternate with Krida. Games such as KhoKho will be played in addition to time on playset for small children or basketball court for older children.

All of this will only succeed with regular and on time attendance.

Our class room calendar coincides with school calendar. However, we realize our session is during weekends, on Sundays only for two hours.

Families need to make a commitment to achieve a high degree of attendance (80 to 90 %) and make up for course material when they do miss. We will have two teachers in each session. One of the two will focus on attendance and any attention issues.

With the renewed vision and rigor, we look for a great year.
